Q&A
Bespoke Wedding Service
1. How much does it cost?
2. What items could we get made by you?
As it’s fully bespoke, the cost truly depends on what you would like made. The cost of your bespoke stationery will depend on: -scale of your wedding: ie. The more guests and items to personalised the higher rates might be. -How many different pieces of stationery you are looking to get made -whether it’s digital or print -print quantity, paper type and finishes -calligraphy -whether some items needs to be hand finished or not I’ve done wedding stationery from small family receptions of 25 guests for £300 (just tablemenu and place cards) to large weekend weddings of 200 guests for £3.5k (which was an entire wedding suite from crest, rsvp, invitation, calligraphed envelopes, place cards, menu, welcome party menu, church ceremony booklets table numbers, signage, party favours, thank you cards). You can see some examples at the bottom of the page. If you have a small budget but still would like something special, I do crest design, which you can order directly on my website. This is a great solution if you are going to diy your wedding stationery. these will be bespoke handpainted/written turned into digital files for you to use.
Items I can design: crest, save the date, invitation carton, rsvp, calligraphed addressed envelopes, place cards, itinerary, sitting chart, seating cards, reception menus, welcome party menus, drinks menus, church ceremony booklets, table numbers, signage, party favours, thank you cards. Again, completely bespoke, so happy to chat about your needs, if there is any other items you have in mind I can look into it. These could be all digital or printed, calligraphed, so price will also depend on that. Should we go digital or printed? What is the difference? Digital means I will deliver files to you. The items will be handprinted & handwritten still but this would be files. This is if you are sending items via email or phone or have a website for your wedding or handling your own printing. Most couples choose to have a digital save the date to send over WhatsApp, email and then move onto prints. We can include QR code or website address if you are going to have one. Printed options: means I will handle the making of your stationery for you. I either will be making it in my studio or work with my suppliers & printers.
3.How long does it take?
4.What do we need to provide?
We will work backwards from your wedding dates, and aim to have all your printed deliverables before. There is usually 2 parts to wedding suites: 1 save the dates/invitations 2 reception related stationery (ie. Menus, place cards, table numbers etc.) I would recommend getting in touch for invitations at least 3/2 months before you want to send them out. This gives us time to talk about what you would like design, proposals, samples and delivery/print. Ie. If your wedding is in May, you want to send invitations in January, then get in touch in October/November (the year before). I understand it’s a lot of planning involved ! and that certain items may take longer to get finalised between contractors and guests. Like the menus are usually last to get made. I would say as soon as you have your date and venue, and are happy to start, please get in touch and book me in!
Requirements for initial enquiry: -your event dates and when you want your items delivered (we will then work backward from your date to establish a timeline and get all the items made) -date for which you need all the items prior to wedding day (and where you would need them shipped to) -estimated number of guests to start with quotes -if you are working with a wedding planner (happy to liaise with them when needed) Then later, for artworks {I design stationery but I DO NOT DO COPY WRITING) I would need you to provide: -copy for each stationery element (copy writing and proof reading is the responsibility of the client) -guest list (names for place cards) -guest full names and postal addresses (in case you which to send invitations by post) -menu -copy for any other elements such as party favours, signage, stickers etc.
5.What's the process like?
6.Calligraphy
-Step 1: concept We can work with your theme, colour palette, or with any examples you’ve seen that you like. I’ve worked with couples bringing with their moodboard, and others that asked me to come up with a concept for their stationery. If the later is the case, please let me know a little bit about you and your story, things that are meaningful and representative of your relationship, and photos of your venue. I would then send you a proposal with rough mock ups and ideas sketched up to review and quote per item for your approval. -Step 2:  design I will paint and make the files for print. I always send preview of files before going for sample or print for you to double check it’s all correctly spelt and that you are happy with it. Proof reading is your responsibility as I would copy information as it was provided in the first place, I do not run any proofreading or grammar check over copy, I write what you provide me. -Step 3: Samples / print Cost of sample/ print will depend on print size and quantity I work with UK based suppliers and printers so usually the lead time is 3-7 working days. -Step 4: delivery Via Royal Mail for printed items, via wetransfer for digital deliverables.
We can include calligraphy in your wedding suite, I offer modern quilts calligraphy as a standalone service or incorporated into the stationery. This will be for items like place cards, envelopes, or table menu. Calligraphy can be done on blank paper or prints). See my calligraphy page for example. If you are looking for place cards & menu only this might be a better option.
7. Payment Terms for bespoke
My payment terms are 50% deposit to start commission work and 50% due within 10 working days following delivery of items. I do not start any bespoke work until deposit is received. Why? Because I would do research, sourcing, quoting, initial ideas from the start and this helps me cover any material and sampling cost related to your stationery. I usually do invoices ‘by stationery items’, like 1. save the date, 2. invitation etc. As you would need some stationery items first and there might be months in between the time you need the invitation and the rest of wedding day stationery. The part 1 tends to be the highest invoice as it will include the initial illustration & design work for the suite as well as sampling process.
8. Delivery
If you’ve chosen digital, files will be sent via Wetransfer. It is your responsibility to download and retain copies. If you’ve chosen printed, items will be sent by part 1, part 2 or all together if you prefer. You can provided your own address or your wedding planner or venue one if that’s preferred. I unfortunately do not accept /arrange collection from my studio.
